Him we preach,

warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

who am I?

That’s a valid question…

My name is Miles DeBenedictis. I am the husband of Andie, the daddy of Ethan, Addie, Eva and Eli, the Pastor of Cross Connection Church, an avid graphic designer, Apple and Tesla Motors evangelist, and a guy who loves information (in other words, I read a lot, listen to podcasts endlessly, and (often unsuccessfully) do my best to keep from the blackhole that is TED and YouTube).

This site is simply the hub for things I do. I figured I finally pull all the things into one space. I’d call it “my space”, but I think that’s something most people would just assume strike from their memories. Anyways, enjoy.

The Listening Plan

Virtually every pastor will extol the virtues of regular, personal, devotional Bible reading. But many Christians never develop the discipline for one reason or another. I, like many Christian leaders, observed this not only in the people that I have served, but (regrettably) in myself too. The more I thought about this sad reality, the more I realized that this “virtue” was a relatively new one for Christians.

For much of church history printed Bibles, in the language of the people, were few, and literacy low. That’s certainly not optimum, but that practical reality meant that knowledge and faith grew apart from regular, personal, devotional Bible reading. Just as Romans 10 says, “faith comes by hearing.” As this consideration bounced around in my head, I happened to also stumble upon an interesting coincidence.

On average there are about 260 week days in a year. There just so happens to also be 260 chapters in the New Testament. Pulling these two facts together I set out to create a simple platform for those I serve to engage with a chapter a (week) day of audio Scripture. This became TheListeningPlan.com.

By subscribing to TheListeningPlan you will receive a daily email with a chapter of audio and a (very) short devotion. Try it out, it’s free!

Cross Connection Church

I have the rare privilege of pastoring the church I grew up at. That means that some of the people who taught me in Sunday school as a kid, sit in Sunday services as I preach. It’s kind of a cool thing.

Line Upon Line

Line Upon Line is my growing Bible teaching archive. Here you will find audio and video of my messages, as well as my preaching notes and transcriptions of my messages.

Enduring Word

My friend David Guzik has blessed literally millions with his Bible commentaries on nearly the entire Bible. Since 2015 I’ve had a chance to sit on the board of his ministry Enduring Word and be something of the technical director for the website and platform.

Calvary Church Planting Network

With a group of—way more qualified than I—pastors I get to help direct a network that helps churches and pastors to raise up more pastors and plant new churches. Cool gig!

Does the Omni God Limit Himself?

Recently, while reading a blog post by Roger Olson I came across the following—from him—in response to one of the comments. [The Bible] suggests that our praying can make a real difference in how God acts for the good. I can only speculate that is due to some self-limitation of God for the sake of […]
